"Okay! ... Now, Tell Me Exactly What Happened."

The East Texas Area Health Education Center conducted a pilot project to test the efficacy of using EMDs located in a regional dispatch resource center to provide pre-arrival instructions to 9-1-1 callers in selected areas of rural Texas. This pilot project demonstrated that any 9-1-1 caller in Texas could receive immediate, effective emergency medical assistance, regardless of medical treatment proximity and/or geographic location.
