Serving the city of Roanoke every day is a team of dedicated, skilled professionals. We are entrusted to serve all who live in and visit our beautiful valley. The E9-1-1 Center is responsible for dispatching Police, Fire and EMS throughout the city in response to citizen safety issues. Our staff of dispatchers, trainers and supervisors make crucial decisions and are an integral part of ensuring the safety of our citizens and visitors.

The E9-1-1 Center is currently accepting applications for the E9-1-1 Training Coordinator (#1015). Starting salary: $35,673. This position performs complex and challenging work to coordinate, plan, implement and oversee the department’s training program. It entails comprehensive knowledge of overall options of an E9-1-1 Communications Center. This job requires the ability and knowledge to teach adults, knowledge of adult learning principles and strategies. DCJS basic dispatcher certification, certified as an instructor for DCJS, APCO, VCIN, EMD and CPR or ability to obtain certifications within one year from date of employment. Ability to work as a team member make good judgement decisions and work well with the public and media. Requires a complete Criminal Background Investigation. Work beyond normal schedule, including on call. Work 40 hours per week, may include non-standard work hours. Travel as needed. Open until filled.
